Sayyidi Ibrahim al-Qurashi ad-Disuqi
The founder and spiritual reference point of the Tariqa Burhaniya Disuqiya Shadhuliya is Sayyidī Ibrahim al-Qurashiyy ad-Disuqi, also known by his honorific titles Abul Ainin and Abul Aunayin (“the one with twofold help”). He is regarded as an exceptional spiritual figure whose supplications are believed to be accepted.
Sayyidi Ibrahim was born in Disuq, Egypt, on the last night of the month of Sha’ban in the year 633 AH (1235 CE). He is considered among the elite group known as the Saba’a al-Mathani — the Seven Exalted Ones — who bear the light of nawafil, the voluntary devotions that express loving nearness to God.
Just as the four great Imams guided the believers on the obligatory paths of fara’id, the spiritual poles (aqtab) illuminate the inner path of deeper devotion, offering ways of spiritual surrender that reach beyond the prescribed duties.
A central legacy of Sayyidi Ibrahim ad-Disuqi is the As-Salat al-Muhammadiya (also known as As-Salat adh-Dhatiya) — a prayer that invokes the essence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It points to a spiritual station beyond temporal existence, one containing divine mysteries. This elevated state is also referred to as the nameless station or the red pearl, and is associated with the pre-eternal reality of the Prophet.
Sayyidi Ibrahim passed away in 676 AH (1277 CE). According to different reports, he was either 43 or 63 years old. He was laid to rest in the mosque in Disūq that bears his name and remains, to this day, a wonderful place of reverence and remembrance.
