Sayyidina al-Husain – The Beloved of the Prophet ﷺ
Sayyidina al-Husain was born on the 5th of Sha‘ban in the 4th year after the Hijra. He was the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the son of Sayyidatuna Fatima al-Zahra, the Prophet’s daughter, and Sayyiduna Imam ‘Ali. At his birth, the Prophet ﷺ recited the adhan into his ear and gave him the name Husain. It is said that he bore a strong physical resemblance to the Prophet ﷺ.
The Prophet ﷺ once said:
“Whoever loves Husain, loves Allah.”
There are many beautiful supplications associated with Sayyidina al-Husain:
O Allah, unite us with Sayyidina al-Husain, the Imam.
O Allah, grant us from his courtesy, his love, his care, and his knowledge.
Clothe us in the robe of his love and piety.
O Allah, let us drink from his fountain,
Grant us the eternity of its sweetness and the sweetness of his love.
Inspire us with a striving like his.
