Welcome to the Tariqa Burhaniya
Disuqiya Shadhuliya

In the Tariqa Burhaniya, the focus is on the conscious inner path to God — a path that is lived in everyday life and rooted in transmitted spiritual experience. In this context, the Arabic word tariqa (pl. turuq, meaning “path”) refers to such an inner way, to a Sufi tradition, and also serves as the term for a Sufi order or spiritual community.

The Tariqa Burhaniya Disuqiya Shadhuliya was founded in the 13th century and was revitalized in the 20th century by Maulana Sheikh Mohammed Osman Abduh al-Burhani (1902–1983). Since 2003 the Tariqa is led by Maulana Sheikh Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Osman.

The Tariqa Burhaniya is present today in many Arab countries as well as in Europe, Asia, and North America. In numerous cities, you will find zawiyas (Sufi centers) where brothers and sisters gather regularly for collective remembrance of God (dhikr), celebrations, teachings, and warm communal fellowship. The European center of the Tariqa Burhaniya is Haus Schnede in the Lüneburger Heide (Germany).

Guests are always warmly welcome – we look forward to your visit.
