The Italian branch of the Tariqa Burhaniya was settled in the early 80s.
The first area to be covered was Rome: still today the city of Rome
(though 312 km far away from Florence and 220 km fom Naples, the nearest biggest cities)
has the hugest Italian Burhani community, counting about 30 members, mainly constituted by family groups.
So it is in Naples, where the second Burhani community takes place.
There are also existing groups in the Venetian region, Bologna and Milan area.
The Italian Tariqa is composed mainly by Italians: since Italy has neither a colonial past as France and UK, nor a strong immigration from Islamic countries as Germany.
It is a recent phenomenon the acquiring of Syrian and Sudanese brothers, apart the Egyptian community in Rome.
The Italian Tariqa has a zawiya located in Roma.
It is a modern building, in the centre of the city, near the church of St. Peter, well linked to the underground network.
Hadra is held every Sunday evening, starting 18:30 in the winter months and 21:00 in the summer months.
Lectures on Sufism are given on Wednesday evening (subject to confirmation).
